Consultation Fee

Your Consultation with Dr Tuffley will be 30 minutes.  A Medicare rebate is applicable if you are a holder of a current Medicare Card.

If surgery is recommended, then we will provide you with a Treatment Estimate at your Consultation that lists all applicable Dental and/or Medical Item Codes and associated costs.

Surgery Fees

Surgery can be provided either with local anaesthetic (awake) or with general anaesthetic (asleep).

If you currently have a private health insurance policy with an insurance company, then you may be eligible for rebates for some of the services we, the Anaesthetist, the hospital and pathology clinics have provided.  We urge you to call your private health insurance company to clarify with them exactly what rebates you may be eligible for, based on the Item Codes listed on your Treatment Estimate.  To help you navigate which accounts you can claim and from where, we have put together the following guide.

Hospital & Anaesthetist’s Fees

Once you have booked your surgery at either a Hospital or Day Stay Facility, we will email you a Pre-Operative Checklist for you to complete.  The Pre-Operative Checklist will have the contact details of both your nominated Hospital and your Anaesthetist.   Please ensure that you contact both the Hospital and Anaesthetist directly to find out their fees, rebates and preferred payment methods. You will need to quote the Dental and/or Medical Item Codes listed on your Treatment Estimate which was provided at your Initial Consultation appointment.

Pathology Fees

Sometimes a sample of tissue requires a more thorough investigation by a Pathologist.  If required, a small sample or biopsy will be sent to a pathology laboratory for closer examination. You will be issued with a separate account from the laboratory for these tests. You should be able to claim a rebate from Medicare for these fees (if you are the holder of a current Medicare Card).
